This notice covers phone numbers and message content for research studies operated by the Child Mind Institute MATTER Lab. The Child Mind Institute is a nonprofit children's mental health organization. This notice supplements our organization-wide privacy policy.
No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes; text-messaging opt-in data and consent will not be shared with any third parties. We do not sell, rent, trade, or share mobile phone numbers or SMS opt-in data under any circumstances, and no mobile information is shared with third parties for their own purposes.
Numbers are disclosed only to the service providers that deliver the messages on our behalf: our messaging carrier, which transmits them, and our conversational agent provider, which processes the conversation. Those providers may not use the information for any other purpose.
Your phone number reaches us when you enter it on our opt-in page, or as part of sending us a text message. It is used to send your confirmation message and is then converted to an irreversible cryptographic hash; the number itself is never written to our database. We retain the text of the conversation, a record that you opted in together with the wording you agreed to, and a randomly generated study code that has no meaning outside our own systems.
Conversation records are retained for the duration of the study and then deleted. Hashed numbers are deleted on the same schedule.
Reply STOP at any time to end messaging. To request deletion of your records, email lindsay.alexander [at] childmind.org with the study code you were given.
